A new leak suggests that the upcoming character in Genshin Impact, Hu Tao, has a special dash. While the recent teaser showcases some elements of the playable hero, a prominent leaker for Genshin Impact tweeted out the ability.
The free-to-play RPG by miHoYo sees players taking control of a cast of characters for exploration and battle. As a live service title that is continuing to evolve, the team releases updates with additional heroes. With the recent release of Xiao, Genshin Impact is moving on with a teaser trailer for Hu Tao. But the community went even further by showing off a unannounced feature.

One Genshin Impact fan posted a short clip on Twitter which gives a snapshot of Hu Tao's unique dash ability. Since the user is known for leaking information for the title, the video looks to be legitimate. While dashing is not that rare, Hu Tao's is special because it allows her to become invisible and pass through an enemy. She then reappears behind the target, revealing a quick maneuver that can be used to bounce around enemies at will.
For those interested in the potential of this ability, Lumie posted more details about its limits. Supposedly, it can not remain activated permanently, or even for a long period of time. It only triggers for a short moment while Hu Tao passes through a target or moves forward. She then becomes visible again, which means that this feature will not be able to keep her safe from attacks indefinitely. However, it should go well with some of the other abilities leaked for Hu Tao's kit.
Extra heroes is usually an exciting prospect for Genshin Impact, since part of the appeal is building a strong team. No doubt players will be wondering how to get Wishes nonstop when Hu Tao eventually comes to the game. The special dash looks like it could be fun for those interested in an agile playstyle. Though, from the leak it is hard to tell whether or not it will be that helpful in the heat of combat. And with no official confirmation at this time, there is a chance that the feature may not make it into the full game.
While Hu Tao should get fans hopping in to play, currently there is no stated release date. Therefore, players could be waiting a while before the new character even becomes available to play. That said, miHoYo did imply that heroes might be coming during the 1.3 update for Genshin Impact. In that case, it could be a close as early March when the upcoming banner comes to the game. For now, players will just need to plan their team compositions for Hu Tao.
Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, and PS4, and is in development for PS5 and Switch.
