It looks like there are going to be some big changes coming to the resin system in Genshin Impact. MiHoYo, developer of the hit free-to-play action game, announced how it is altering Original Resin gain for Version 1.3 of Genshin Impact.
Collecting Original Resin is an important aspect of the game, because it is the energy players need to collect rewards. If looking to grab rewards from Ley Line Blossoms, clearing Domains, Bosses, or event-exclusive challenges, players will need to fork over some resin. While these challenges could be done without resin, those playing this way would not be able to claim the rewards.

From the main developer discussion page, miHoYo answers how these upcoming changes will result in more resin overall. Once Version 1.3 comes out, events requiring Original Resin are going to change in Genshin Impact's world. Any event that does not have Ley Line Blossom or Domain challenges will not consume resin anymore. Even better, large-scale events in the future will not require the valuable resource.
Fans who typically grab the Battle Pass for Genshin Impact also have more resin to look forward to. With 1.3, the Sojourner's Battle Pass and Gnostic Hymn get Fragile Resin at a rate of x1 per 10 levels. This new reward begins at level 5, and is now in place of the Mystic Enhancement Ores players got beforehand. And no need to worry about less ores, as miHoYo states that the resource will be distributed at other levels.
The popularity of Genshin Impact has driven gamers all over the world to dive into the fantasy open world. That said, it is a Gacha style experience, so consumable resources are a key part of the different layers throughout the game. It is always a good sign when developers are willing to hear fans out on areas that might be limiting. If going by the discussion page, it looks like players were taking issue with how much Original Resin is available. While there are ways to gain the resource, like Condensed Resin, players who were uninterested in grinding may hop back in for Version 1.3.
Unfortunately, one aspect of the resin changes does require owning Battle Passes for the game. While this is likely of little concern to major fans, casual players will not be seeing a big gain in resin after the new version comes out. With less events consuming it, the grind should theoretically be less, but finding more resin will still be a problem for those not grabbing the Battle Pass. Overall, though, it looks like miHoYo is in tune with the supporters of its game, and is tweaking Genshin Impact to be a more enjoyable experience.
Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
