Outriders is full of details that players don't catch the first time around. Here are a few you might only notice on your second or third playthrough.

Outriders is an action-RPG co-op title developed by People Can Fly. The game created a wide divide among the gaming community. A lot of people love the game for its lore, story, and impressive gameplay, while others were incredibly annoyed because of its broken servers.

Whatever their personal feelings, gamers cannot deny just how much care and thought the developers put in when making this game. It is filled with tons of small details not that many people may discover on their first playthrough. Here are a few details that eagle-eyed players might spot while replaying the game.

8 Shira's Eye Patch

Shira is one of the side characters the protagonist meets in the game. Her role in the demo was very central, but she slowly takes the backseat as the game progresses. Despite that, Shira has a very interesting character design that perfectly ties to her backstory.

At the beginning of the game, the players will meet a younger version of Shira. One of her most prominent character designs is the bandanna she wears around her neck. After the time jump, an older, eyepatch-wearing Shira is now the Grand Marshall of Rift Town. The material she uses as her eye patch is the same one she used as a bandanna when she was younger.

7 The Guards Rotate Shifts

Another cool detail that revolves around Shira is the guards that are stationed outside of her quarters. Two guards will always stand outside of Shira's quarters, and it will never be the same two guards all the time. The guards in the game have a rotation shift.

A lot of guards will also comment and complain about this assignment. They'll say something along the lines of, "If you pissed her off, we’d be put on guard duty."

6 How To Handle The Breachers

The Breachers are an enemy type in Outriders. According to the game's Journal Entry, the Breachers are known as "trench sweepers." They need to be up close with their opponents because of their weapon's short reach, meaning that they're heavily armored to increase defense. They also carry a bag of grenades, which are attached to a dead man's switch.

These descriptions are massive hints as to how the players can deal with this type of opponent. Their backs have less armor than their front, so they take more damage from behind. If they are killed around a bunch of other enemies, their bombs will explode, taking out everyone else around them.

5 An Enemy Will Drop Their Gun If You Shoot Their Hand

The way the enemies in the game react when the player attacks can be highly interesting. An enemy will react accordingly when players hit a specific body part. The most interesting part about this is that an enemy will drop their weapons if they happen to be shot in their hands.

Not only does this make the game very immersive and realistic, but it also helps a lot in combat. If the player can manage this shot, they can disarm their opponents.

4 Reference To David Koresh

There is a very obscure reference that not many people may catch. The game features an Altered figure in the game by the name of Salem Koresh. Some people may find that name familiar, and that is because it is a reference to David Koresh, a cult leader responsible for the Waco siege.

Salem Koresh is an Altered in Outriders who managed to start his own cult, naming himself as the cult's literal god. It's not a far reach from the horrific real-life figure.

3 Boiling Leather Was A Depression-Era Survival Strategy

By just roaming and lingering around the camps, the players will be able to gather a lot of information about the game and its world. Through the main story, the player learns that the world is undergoing an intense famine amidst war. Listening to the NPCs' stories around the camp will show the player just how awful things really are.

One NPC will constantly ask for something to eat. According to this NPC, his "something to eat" can be "a shoe, or a belt." This actually mirrors what a lot of people had to do during hard times, in real life, to avoid starvation. Desperate people would to boil leather to make it soft, and make soup out of it.

2 Bullets Slow Down With The Trickster's Slow Trap

The Trickster class is one of four the players can choose from in the game. This particular class encourages constant movement. A Trickster has the ability to manipulate time and space. One of the abilities of a Trickster is the Slow Trap.

Activating the Slow Trap will create a bubble wherein trapped opponents will slow down – and so will oncoming projectiles. Interestingly, when the player reloads while in the trap, the bullets that fly out of their gun also move slower. If the ability ends while the bullets are still in mid-air, they will suddenly fall to the ground as they would normally.

1 Players Can Minimize The Shaky Screen

One of the most common criticisms regarding the game following the demo's release was how the game overused the "shaky camera" technique. The developers behind the game listened to this criticism, as the players now have the option to decrease this effect.

The game's settings menu now includes an option called Camera Smoothness. Players can use this setting to reduce the constant camera shakes during cutscenes – useful for gamers with motion sickness.
