After a full month of requests, Call of Duty: Warzone fans finally got their wish regarding the FFAR and AUG meta coming to an end. However, NICKMERCS latest video has revealed that there is already a new “top dog” in Call of Duty: Warzone.
At the start of the video, NICKMERCS highlights how Call of Duty: Warzone’s AUG has changed following the major nerfs to the gun. While he does believe the weapon is still decent, it is no longer the powerhouse that it once was. Pointing out that the gun has “a little too much bounce,” the FaZe member goes on to explain how the gun can no longer get the job done at range. Citing its inability to kill head-glitchers, NICKMERCS believes that players should switch over to the M16.

Another Tactical Rifle from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the M16’s burst fire nature sees it performing very similarly to the AUG pre-nerf. While its damage is a bit less absurd, it is close enough to the AUG to be considered a valid replacement, as the streamer says that the two guns “hit the same way” overall. Further, it has nearly no recoil, with NICKMERCS believing that everybody playing the battle royale game will soon be making use of the M16.
Warning Call of Duty: Warzone fans not to be left behind, NICKMERCS shares a loadout with the strongest attachments for the M16. For a barrel, the pro player equips the 15.9” Strike Team, while the Agency Silencer is used in the muzzle slot to keep him off radars. The Arial Arms 3x scope is used to help with long range fights, the main strength of the gun, while a 45 round magazine gives players more ammunition in each clip. Finally, a Field Agent Foregrip is thrown in the underbarrel slot to help with accuracy.
- Barrel: 15.9” Strike Team
- Muzzle: Agency Silencer
- Optic: Arial Arms 3x
- Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip
- Ammunition: 45 Rnd
It will be interesting to see how the Call of Duty: Warzone community responds to the M16 and its rise to power. Not only is the weapon another Tactical Rifle, but it is also another Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War gun. Players have recently called out the overly fast TTK caused by the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War integration, with some fans even asking for a classic Call of Duty: Warzone playlist. While this proposed playlist would only include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare weaponry, it does not seem like an addition that will be made anytime soon.
As for NICKMERCS, he seems happy to see the gun at the top of the new meta. As he mentioned in a previous AUG-related video, he was vocal in wanting a burst fire meta — and it seems like this type of meta will be continuing for the foreseeable future.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
