Weapon Cores are an important part of Destiny 2. Here's a look at what they do and how you can get them.

Destiny 2 players often have trouble with the weapon frame quests, but once guardians know where to go, getting a weapon core is very simple. Players that have yet to begin the frame questline need to speak with Spider in the Tangled Shore.

Spider will provide guardians with the Black Armory badge needed to access the annex in the tower. Players should head to the west side of the tower, and quest indicators will guide them to ADA-1.

Ada-1 will provide gamers with the weapon core quest, which can be broken into two parts, finding a weapon core and finding compound ether.

To streamline the process of getting a weapon core, players no longer need to go to different locations to retrieve a core for the machine gun frame and the sniper frame. There are several locations players can look to retrieve a weapon core. The first two are on the EDZ in either the Outskirts or the Gulch. The Gulch will typically be a much easier location to spot the weapon core, which is in a circular black crate protected by a drone shield. After fast traveling, guardians should be able to locate it after walking into the Gulch for a short period.

Sometimes players will get lucky and not have to fight enemies to open the core. More often than not, players will have to kill the major near the loot crate named "Saboteur of the Forge" or "Forge Saboteur". After killing the major, players should be able to open the crate and retrieve the weapon core. At times, the crate will be bugged and gamers must wait several minutes or check out one of the other core locations.

Guardians that are having trouble locating the crates on the EDZ can look for one on Nessus. The Nessus weapon cores appear in Artifact's Edge or the Hallows. Gamers will go through the same steps as in the EDZ, kill the major near the crate and loot it.

The next step in the Volundr and Gofannon missions is to collect 25 compound ether. All players have to do is kill fallen, which will drop the compound ether. Collecting the ether is fast and easy, as some enemies will drop more than one. The next steps in the quest require that players get 25 multi-kills, along with other kill-based objectives. The rest of the objectives in the quest are not difficult, but they are quite tedious.
