Borderlands 3 fans looking to complete the Phoenix's Legendary Hunt or farm the mini boss for loot can find it in one specific location.

Borderlands 3 players can complete several different Crew Challenges on each of the game’s planets, and one of the possible objectives is Hammerlock’s Legendary Hunts. In these brief challenges, players take on a special mini boss, and few are as memorable as the Phoenix in Borderlands 3.

For this standout Legendary Hunt, Borderlands 3 fans will want to bring along a gun with range and accuracy. As such, shotguns and launchers are not recommended, as players will be taking on a powerful flying rakk. Equipping a shield that is resistant to fire is also recommended, as players will be taking on a rakk with some deadly incendiary attacks. Once the right loadout is equipped, players can head to the following location to fight the boss.

Borderlands 3 fans can find the Phoenix on the planet Pandora. Specifically, the beast is seen in the Splinterlands location. A massive desert area, gamers will be happy to know that the enemy is close to the area where they first spawn in. Once going to the Splinterlands, players will want to head forward until they reach the first open bit of land. From there, they will need to hang left, immediately, sticking to the edge of the map as they go.

They will then see a small, divided area with a pathway that heads up, which is marked by parentheses on the map above. Players can then head up the path to spawn the creature, though they should make sure to activate the spawn point at the bottom of the area first. This way, they can easily farm the exclusive Legendary item that is dropped by this flying Borderlands 3 mini boss.

While the Phoenix is not Borderlands 3’s toughest boss, it is an intimidating foe — especially for lower-level players. Still, the enemy is essentially three buffed up Rakk fights in one, as it has the unique ability to respawn itself. A fitting power given its name, players will need to kill the enemy three times, with it entering the ground and coming back up every time its health bar is drained. As long as players keep this mechanic in mind and can avoid its attacks, they should be able to take it out eventually.

Once dead, there is a chance that the Phoenix Tears Legendary item will drop. A special Borderlands 3 artifact, the item is focused on improving “fight for your life” stats. When downed, players will move far faster and have a longer bleedout time, allowing them to easily rush over to teammates for a revival or enemies for kills. They will also have full health once revived. While this artifact is good for early-game builds, there are far better options available. Still, completionists that want all the Legendary items can farm the Phoenix in the Splinterlands until the Phoenix Tears drops.

Borderlands 3 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
