The Call of Duty team details their previous efforts and plans for the future to handle cheaters across Warzone and other titles.

Online shooters are always in a constant battle with cheaters, and Call of Duty: Warzone is no different. In a recent blog post, the Call of Duty: Warzone team has given an update on their progress battling cheaters as well as what their plans include to continue the fight in the future.

The free-to-play battle royale has been particularly attacked by cheaters and hackers using various methods and tactics to get the upper edge over their competitors. As of late, players have been having to deal with various different bugs and Call of Duty: Warzone cheaters exploiting them to gain an unfair advantage, despite the Call of Duty team being diligent in their attempts to curb it.

The post begins with the impressive statistic that to date Call of Duty: Warzone has permanently banned 475,000 players, with the most recent ban wave occurring a few days ago that was the seventh of its kind since February. The post also details the team's efforts to curb commercial cheat markets that farm accounts to be sold to repeat cheaters in an attempt to avoid being detected as a free-to-play account made solely for cheating. It is a difficult aspect of fighting cheaters, but Call of Duty has been fairly proactive on that front through tactics such as hardware bans for repeat offenders.

The Call of Duty team also gives an insight into what areas they are increasing their efforts in to try and deter cheaters. These areas include 2-factor authentication for accounts, performing high-volume banwaves more frequently, devoting more resources to security and enforcement teams, as well as being more frequent in communicating their efforts to the community. The post gives a good look into what the Call of Duty team plans to do in the future and is a good read for any players who are concerned with Call of Duty's cheating problems.

The post is promising for Call of Duty players, and hopefully, the efforts that the team is making to deal with cheaters work out well, but whether or not the efforts will yield those results remains to be seen. Call of Duty: Warzone is a massive battle royale with a large fanbase that is bound to attract countless cheaters for as long as the game is live. Games like Team Fortress 2 are emblematic of the problems that multiplayer games can face even years after release, but hopefully, the Call of Duty team's proactive approach now will pay off in the future in preventing those issues before they begin or stomping them out soon after.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
