A new bug is stopping Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans from equipping attachments in Zombies, though Treyarch is already working on a fix.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans may be looking forward to Season 3’s new content, but a bothersome bug is making the game’s current content harder to enjoy. Several players have reported that they are unable to equip 8 attachments in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies, though Treyarch is thankfully aware of the issue.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies allows gamers to make their own loadouts, starting with a Field Upgrade and any weapon of their choosing. Normally, they can equip 8 attachments to their weaponry, and if they stick with the weapon for the entire match, they can transform it into a legendary gun and deal some serious damage. However, the new attachment bug is seeing weapons limited to five attachments in the beloved Survival mode.

The bug is tied to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Custom Mods feature. Recently added to the game, the ability allows players to mix and match their blueprint attachments, creating specific builds and saving them to the cloud. Whenever they want to access these builds, they can instantly equip their custom weapon with the press of a button, something that is meant to be a major time-savor. Unfortunately, Twitter user @BigCabes17 has provided an example of the feature not working as intended in Call of Duty Zombies.

Showing off a custom version of the FFAR Assault Rifle, the player is met with a message saying that 8 attachments cannot be equipped without the Gunfighter Wild Card. However, with Wild Cards being a multiplayer-exclusive feature, there is no way for players to fix the issue. As such, Custom Mods are effectively useless in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies, with players still needing to remake their loadout step-by-step inside the PvE mode’s menus.

Fortunately, Treyarch Community Manager FoxhoundFPS replied to the fan’s concerns. Much like the update the developer shared regarding the Sail 630 Nuclear error, FoxhoundFPS has assured the player that Treyarch knows of the problem and is hard at work on a fix. While no details were provided as to when this update will come, players should be seeing a patch arrive for Season 3 later this week. Though it remains to be seen if the problem will be solved that soon, this is the earliest that a fix would possibly come for the glitch.

For now, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans relying on Custom Mods may be better off buying weapons off walls or pulling some guns from the Mystery Box. Without access to the full lineup of 8 attachments, sticking with a loadout weapon would be a waste of time and salvage.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
