The Fallout series is well-respected as one of the best isometric Western RPGs around. That being said, the franchise didn't reach the levels of popularity it deserved until Bethesda took the reins. The studio turned Fallout into an open-world action-adventure title that was a blast to play. While some argue that the tight narratives and excellent role-playing of previous titles are missing in the new Fallout titles, the added benefit of the vast open world and boundless gameplay made this tradeoff bearable for many.
