The setting of Black Flag resulted in some amazing outfits for players to collect. Players that want to be a swashbuckling pirate assassin will need to look the part. There are a total of 22 outfits in Black Flag, and this guide will cover how to unlock each of them.

Most of the outfits players can unlock in Black Flag can be crafted or purchased from a merchant. A few of the outfits listed below are DLC content or rewards from prior Assassin's Creed titles. The outfits with no description can be purchased from a merchant.

  • Edward Kenway's Robes
  • Crimson Cloak
  • Pirate Cloak
  • Brown Cloak
  • Explorer Outfit: Community challenges reward.
  • Pirate Captain Outfit
  • Privateer Outfit
  • Merchant Outfit
  • Governor's Outfit: Found in a social treasure chest.
  • Officer's Outfit
  • Politician's Outfit
  • Feline Pelt Outfit: Kill two Ocelots and two Jaguars to craft.
  • Whaler Outfit: Crafted using three whale skins.

Gamers will earn the outfit after completing the Gibraltar mission. Because of the wait times in the Kenway's fleet missions, it may take players some time to unlock. The attire looks very similar to the Politician's Outfit except it has an even redder hue. The Officer's Outfit is not worth the effort unless players are trying to unlock every uniform in the game.

Players can unlock the Stealth Outfit by completing half of the Assassin's contracts. While the outfit is equipped, players will have a lower chance of being spotted. The Stealth Outfit provides great benefits for only a few hours of game time. It is likely that players will already have a few of the challenges completed.

The outfit was a Uplay unlockable item and required 30 Uplay points. The Edward the Legend Outfit looks very similar to the Captain Drake's Outfit, so gamers need not worry if they are unable to purchase it.

Assassins will need to collect each of the five Templar keys to unlock the armor. The outfit is locked in the Great Inagua hideout, and assassins will need to complete five different Templar hunts to unlock them. While it will be a time-consuming process, the Templar armor will grant players additional damage resistance, which is extremely important later in the game.

Players will find the overcoat in the Great Inagua treasure room. It was also a free reward for ordering the Haytham or Edward figurines after the game's launch. Unfortunately, players will probably not be able to find these figurines in stores in 2021.

Players can craft the Hunter Outfit after acquiring the pelts of a White Jaguar and Red Howler Monkey. This attire has a different aesthetic than many of the other Black Flag outfits. Additionally, the Hunter Outfit will allow players to get closer to wild animals without being detected.

Assassins can craft the outfit by killing and looting a Bull Shark and a Hammerhead Shark. The outfit is rather plain, but it is simple to unlock nonetheless. Some say that the tattered brown tunic resembles what a true pirate would look like.

The Mayan Outfit is unlocked by finishing the Mayan Stelae activity. In total, players will need to complete 16 different Stelae challenges to unlock the outfit. Gamers will want to put in the time to unlock the outfit, as it will repel bullets. The outfit is not impenetrable, but it will prevent a small percent of bullets from inflicting damage.

Assassins will need to have the Black Island DLC to unlock this outfit. It was also released as a part of the Pirates Pack. Captain Morgan's Redingote is by far one of the best-looking outfits in Black Flag.

The attire will remind players not only of Captain Morgan but of the pirate captain caricature in general. The DLC mission to unlock the outfit is slightly underwhelming, but playing through the monotony is worth the effort.
