The 1997 horror movie The Relic features a terrifying creature and was adapted from Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston's book Relic, which was published in 1995. Peter Hyams, who is a familiar name for sci-fi fans, directed the movie. Hyams also known for being behind the camera of 2010: The Year We Make Contact, the sequel to Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.
