Resident Evil 5 ushered in a new and unique era for the survival horror franchise. Prior to the 5th release, gamers were used to settling down with a Resident Evil title and being greeted by dark corridors, tense music, and bone-chilling gameplay. Those that loaded up the 2009 title would instead find themselves thrown into a high-octane third-person shooter filled with nerve-wracking quick-time events and swarms of Las Plagas-infected Majini. It was a far cry from Resident Evil's unsettling mansion or Resident Evil 2's gritty cityscape, even if Resident Evil 4 started to introduce players to the prospect of a more action-heavy third-person experience.

Because of this uptick and action (and the handy introduction of a streamlined cooperative experience), the prospect of having unlimited ammo is even more alluring. It's one thing to experience the adventure of Resident Evil 5 with limited supplies (as is traditional with the series) but there is something incredibly entertaining about blasting through hordes of your enemies without worrying about how much precious ammo you're wasting on missed headshots.

If you're looking to tackle Resident Evil 5 with infinite ammo, here's how to unlock it.

Unfortunately, unlocking Infinite Ammo in Resident Evil 5 isn't as simple as entering a cheat code. Like other Resident Evil titles, you'll first need to make your way through the entire campaign. That means you'll need to suffer all of Kijuju's hordes, bosses, and hungry wildlife. Strap in, because it can be a pretty taxing journey, even with a friend by your side. It's well worth it though, as your reward will be the ability to unlock Infinite Ammo on a variety of weapons.

After completing the main campaign, you'll need to go a step further and upgrade whichever weapon you wish to use completely. This will take quite a bit of cash, doubly so if you plan on upgrading all of your weapons to be Infinite Ammo capable. That's right, each individual weapon will need to be completed and there is no way to simply activate Infinite Ammo across all your guns without properly upgrading them. Farming for the maximum amount of cash on your second playthrough will work wonders in helping you live your ammo-free dreams.

Once a gun is fully upgraded, you'll have to head into the Bonus Features area and purchase the Infinite Ammo option with Exchange Points. From there, you can toggle the ability to use Infinite Ammo before the start of each mission.

It can be quite an arduous undertaking to unlock Infinite Ammo for one weapon, let alone the slew of weapons available in Resident Evil 5. Plan on farming a ton of resources, with a main focus on money. You'll also need a healthy amount of Exchange Points. It may take you a couple of playthroughs or many farming sessions to gain enough resources to unlock everything possible so it may help to bring a friend along to break up the monotony.

Infinite Ammo isn't just fun for blasting through enemies, it can help you speedrun through certain sections or achieve better rankings on missions. You won't just have access to an unlimited amount of ammo either.
