The Mandalorian has been one of the biggest hits on television over the past couple of years. The bounty-hunter-themed show based in the Star Wars universe is filled with character, heart, action, drama, and comedy--and now The Mandalorian may be receiving its own video game.
A noted and reliable insider that can be found on Twitter with the user @Shpenshal_Ed has just shared details about a possible Mandalorian video game. Shpenshal_Ed has been on a roll with leaks as of late, as he recently leaked the May 2021 PS Plus games, for example. This Mandalorian news would be a huge reveal, if true.

According to Shpenshal_Ed, his source told him information about a Mandalorian game and Shpenshal_Ed mixed it up with a now deconfirmed Mandalorian Funko Pop. The leaker may have accidentally burned a bridge with his source, as he then shared the news of this Mandalorian game with the rest of the world via Twitter, even though he may have not had permission to leak that news quite yet.
For quite some time, there have been thoughts that The Mandalorian would make an excellent video game. Season 3 of the show will likely come out in 2022, and there is no telling if a game would be able to be released around that time frame. But if this rumor is true, it would be interesting to see if the game could take advantage of the excitement of Season 3 and release around the same time.
Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt for now. While many would love to see a game based on The Mandalorian show--or on the character and bounty-hunting world of Star Wars--for now it is just in rumor and speculation territory. This particular insider does have a decent track record, but also they reported that Xbox would purchase Techland, and that has not happened yet.
A brand new Star Wars game would be thrilling, almost regardless of theme and genre. Specifically, with the idea of EA losing its Star Wars exclusivity licensing agreement, the possibilities will soon be endless. Disney and Lucasfilms Games could already be lining up deals and working towards the development of new games, including The Mandalorian. If it were real, the exact genre of that game is also an interesting question. An Uncharted-like linear and story-based adventure game could be remarkable. Meanwhile, an open-world game based around the idea of picking up endless bounties around the galaxy to earn Beskar and build-up armor seems like a solid plan as well.
