These features never made it to the final iteration of the original Super Mario RPG.

Square Enix, Squaresoft at the time, produced two miracles in the 90s on SNES. First, they combined some of the greatest creators in gaming and media in Japan to make Chrono Trigger. There were the regulars at Squaresoft i.e. Yoshinori Kitase and Hironobu Sakaguchi as two examples. Then there was Yuji Horii of Dragon Quest fame along with Akira Toriyama who created Dragon Ball.
