Developer Bungie provides details on what weapon changes Destiny 2 players can expect when the new Season 14 launches next month.

Developer Bungie has revealed some of the weapon changes players can expect to come to Destiny 2 in the upcoming Season 14. While Bungie has yet to even reveal the name of the upcoming Season 14, the details on what weapon changes are coming to Destiny 2 are rather in-depth.

Before getting into the details, Bungie explains its philosophy behind updates to Destiny 2, breaking them into Big Swings that immediately change player behavior and have a large effect on the game at large and Incremental Changes that are smaller nudges to existing content. The weapon changes will also launch alongside all of the new content coming in Season 14, including the return of the iconic Vault of Glass raid for the first time in Destiny 2.

Firstly, Bungie's blog post explains bigger changes that will be coming to three different weapon archetypes. This includes Precision Auto Rifles getting a base damage buff from 17 to 18, Linear Fusion Rifles having their precision damage increased by 15% and reserve ammo by 20%, and Fusion rifles having their effective range improved by raising the start distance for fusion rifles' damage falloff. Of course, Bungie has the challenge of balancing the game's weapons around both Destiny 2's PvP game modes as well as PvE, and these changes are largely further tweaks to previous weapon balance updates.

The post also details coming updates to one of Destiny 2's coveted exotic weapons, the MIDA Multitool. Bungie is replacing its Outlaw perk with No Distractions, which will reduce the flinch players receive while using the weapon. The post also gives details on some of the future changes that Bungie is working towards. These include doing some fine-tuning on all shotguns to make them less dominant in PvP, as well as changes to Fusion Rifles and to Dead Man's Tale, as Bungie expects the exotic weapon to get more usage with the balance tweaks.

Bungie's blog post also gives a variety of changes coming to specific perks, as well as various details on the implementation of Vault of Glass in Destiny 2. The list of changes does seem as though they will answer some of the community's complaints with the current weapon balance in Destiny 2, however, which is always good to see. Season 14 will bring with it a large number of new additions to Destiny 2, including the all-new Transmog system that will allow players to better customize their Guardians. Thankfully, Destiny 2 players will not have to wait long for the changes, as Season 14 is set to launch in Destiny 2 on May 11.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
