Monster Hunter Rise has several crafting materials that are a little more hidden away than standard monsters parts, like Sinister Cloth.

Fans of the Monster Hunter series know that the games have a wide variety of weapons and armors for players to craft out of the monsters that they defeat. Often times there are pieces of gear made out of materials that aren't from monsters and are a little harder to track down. Monster Hunter Rise is no different in this regard. The Sinister Cloth and its high rank counterpart, the Sinister Darkcloth, are unique materials that Monster Hunter Rise players may need help tracking down.

There are two major areas Monster Hunter Rise's rare materials come from: the Argosy and the Meowcenaries. Both are found in the Buddy Plaza and if players want to use either service, they will need buddies. Sending off buddies to through the Argosy to trade can result in such materials as the Dreamshells which can be used to craft shell gear.

Sending off buddies on Meowcenary missions can result in rare materials such as Gothjellies which can be used to craft jelly gear. The Sinister Cloth falls into this second category. Players will need to utilize the Meowcenaries in order to secure some Sinister Cloth.

In order to make use of the Meowcenaries, as stated before, players will need to go to the Buddy Plaza. From there, they will want to talk to Felyne Chief Kogarashi. He will bring up a menu for players in which they can select a destination and the buddies they want to send to that destination. Sometimes, a location name will have a sparkle icon next to it. If there is such an icon, it means rare materials can be found in that area.

Each area has its own unique material to be found via the Meowcenaries. Players searching after the Sinister Cloth will want to head to the Sandy Plains when it is sparkling. There, like with any other use of the Meowcenaries, players will be given several routes to choose from within that location, in this case the Sandy Plains. Players will want to look for a route with a bonepile icon that is also sparkling. These bonepiles are where the Meowcenaries can find the Sinister Cloth.

Sinister Cloth is the low rank version of the item. So if players send their Meowcenaries to the low rank version of the Sandy Plains, then they will get Sinister Cloth back. Sending the Meowcenaries to the high rank version of the Sandy Plains can still result in Sinister Cloths, but the Meowcenaries can now also bring back Sinister Darkcloth, the high rank item.

Both Sinister Cloth and Sinister Darkcloth can be used to craft low and high rank Death Stench armor as well as some weapons. The weapons that have Sinister Cloth inspired versions are the hammer, the longsword, and the insect glaive. Buddies have armor and weapons as well.

Monster Hunter Rise is now available for the Nintendo Switch. A PC release is slated for 2022.
