During 2023's Game Awards, "Best Roleplaying Game" was one of many categories clustered together, with Larian Studios not even getting to give a speech about winner Baldur's Gate 3. However, the category is one that has been around since the beginning of the Game Awards nearly ten years ago, and Baldur's Gate 3 joins an illustrious group that includes entries from the Final Fantasy and The Witcher series as well as multiple previous Game of the Year winners.
