It's common in manhwa to see protagonists start from rock bottom, and then get stronger as the plot progresses. This always makes for a great story, especially when superpowers and magic are involved. Seeing the main character gain new abilities and skills is fun, and watching them beat their tormentors is extremely satisfying.
