The Quarter Quells give the Hunger Games a darker and more dangerous twist every 25 years. What happened during each one?

In Suzane Collins’ dystopian Hunger Games trilogy, after the districts of Panem rebelled against the oppressive rule of the Capitol, the Hunger Games were imposed by the latter as a punishment to remind the districts of the consequences of disobeying their authority. The Games serve as a means to instill fear in the districts and discourage any thoughts of rebellion, but also as a massive spectacle to entertain the citizens of the Capitol. Every 25 years, the Hunger Games celebrate a special edition known as the Quarter Quells, where the Games get a unique and unpredictable twist, making for an even bigger and more extravagant spectacle and further reinforcing the Capitol’s control over the districts to each new generation.
