Duke Leto Atreides, his concubine Lady Jessica, and their son Paul are a week away from leaving behind Castle Caladan, which has housed twenty-six generations of their family. In Denis Villeneuve's 2021 adaptation of Herbert's Dune, Jessica, seated at a table, looks "wistful" while gazing out the window at the beautiful valley her family is about to leave behind. Compared to the desert planet Arrakis / Dune, the homeworld of House Atreides is a "paradise."
