Video games have many focal points depending on the genre and focus of the game's content. Often, a game can focus on gameplay and exploration to drive home the lore and the experience of adventure. On other occasions, games can add well-crafted characters to the story and allow players to connect on a deeper level while progressing through a strong narrative experience. On special occasions, characters are given allies or "companions" that journey with them as they struggle through the trials and tribulations the game has to offer, giving them a friend or partner to join them as they venture off into the unknown.
