Long before The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, and Uncharted, a live-action Halo project was said to be in the works. The first murmurs of a live-action Halo movie appeared all the way back in 2005 when Microsoft hired Alex Garland to write a script to entice Hollywood studios to invest. But despite gaining talent like Neill Blomkamp, Guillermo del Toro, and Peter Jackson over the years, the Halo movie never happened, and aside from some short-lived web series, a live-action Halo seemed fated to never come out, with even a Halo TV show with Steven Speilberg attached failing to make it to screens.
