Cosplayer Florencia Sofen shows off four of her best Star Wars costumes from 2020 in honor of the holiday, including one of Ahsoka Tano.

Today is May the 4th, also known as "May the 4th be with you," an annual holiday where fans celebrate all things Star Wars. This of course includes cosplay. Star Wars is by far one of the most popular properties for cosplayers around the world. It's a rich tapestry of unique characters and alien species. Cosplayer Florencia Sofen decided to celebrate May the 4th by showing off four of their best Star Wars costumes.

Posted to the official Star Wars Reddit, Sofen wrote, "May the 4th be with you - Happy Star Wars day! These are my cosplays of 2020 for It!" The first of these four cosplays is none other than renegade Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano. The one-time apprentice of Anakin Skywalker has slowly become one of the most popular and recognizable Star Wars characters to date. Created by Dave Filoni, Ahsoka Tano made her first appearance in the animated film and accompanying series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. She has gone on to appear in several Star Wars-related stories, such as the Clone Wars follow up Star Wars: Rebels and the novel Ahsoka written by E.K Johnston. More recently, she made the jump to live-action in the second season of The Mandalorian, where she is played by actress Rosario Dawson. However, the costume that Sofen is replicating is actually worn by Ahsoka in the final season of The Clone Wars, after the character has left the Jedi order. She wears this outfit when she helps liberate Mandalore from the clutches of Darth Maul with help from Katee Sackhoff's Bo Katan.

The second costume might be slightly less recognizable to some fans, but this yellow lightsaber-wielding character is actually infamous sith assassin Asajj Ventress. Also making her first canon appearance in The Clone Wars (She first appeared in the original animated Clone Wars series by Genndy Tartakovsky, but that series is no longer canon), Ventress was a vicious assassin employed by the evil Count Dooku. Despite the "rule of two" preventing Ventress from ever becoming a full-fledged sith, she served Dooku over the course of the Clone Wars and was a worthy opponent to Jedi such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano, having fought the three heroes on several occasions. However, this costume is actually a reference to her bounty hunting days. Ventress was eventually cast out by Dooku when he no longer found her services necessary, so she fell in with the criminal underworld of the Star Wars galaxy. During this time she managed to find a yellow lightsaber on the black market, which she used to replace her signature twin red lightsabers. Since The Clone Wars was canceled prematurely, this plotline was cut short. While fans did get a brief glimpse of her doing bounty hunting jobs with a young Boba Fett, she didn't come into possession of this yellow lightsaber or wear this specific costume until later. However, you can read Christie Golden's novel Dark Disciple, which covers the events of Asajj Ventress's life after the series.

Finally, the last two costumes are ex-rebel shock trooper Cara Dune from The Mandalorian and rogue archeologist Doctor Aphra, who appears in several Star Wars comics. It's unlikely that fans will see or hear from Dune anytime soon since the character's reputation has pretty much been tarnished by actress Gina Carano's bizarre and controversial views. Aphra on the other hand has become fairly popular over the years.

While not as well known as Ahsoka Tano, Doctor Aphra is a morally ambiguous archeologist--basically the Indiana Jones of the Star Wars galaxy. Created by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca, Aphra first appeared in the Darth Vader comics put out by Marvel. She now has her own ongoing comic series and is even rumored to be appearing in a live-action show or movie at some point in the future. There's even a rumor going around that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actress Chloe Bennet is being considered for the role, but nothing is confirmed at the moment.

At the end of the day, each costume from Sofen is as impressive as the last, and we hope to see many more Star Wars cosplayers on this day of celebration. May the 4th be with you, always.
