Although through unconventional means, a possible hint at Sumo Digital's next game has been revealed. While not very specific, the hint does indicate that Sumo Digital is working on a game set in one of the biggest fantasy franchises out there.
For those who don't know, Sumo Digital is a British game development studio comprised of multiple teams that has worked on a variety of games across the industry. The studio has developed games across multiple genres and has played a role in multiple large franchises. Some of its bigger titles include Forza Horizon 2, Crackdown 3, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and the upcoming Hood: Outlaws and Legends.

The hint at the studio's future title, however, comes via MCV/Develop's 2021 30 Under 30 List, which lists the publication's 30 best young talents in the games industry. Sumo Digital's narrative director Sara Longthorne made the list, and the associated description includes mention of her work on a title in one of the largest and most beloved fantasy universes. The blurb does not give very much away, but with Hood: Outlaws and Legends being very well detailed and shown off ahead of its launch, it seems that the studio has another fantasy project that it isn't ready to reveal just yet.
Details beyond that are pretty limited, and there are a lot of possibilities for what Sumo Digital could be working on. One possibility is that the studio is working with Playground Games on the new Fable game for Xbox. Sumo Digital worked with Playground Games previously on the Forza Horizon series, so it would be a good fit for the two studios to join forces once again. Of course, there are many other fantasy series out there that would lend themselves extremely well to a new video game release, such as Game of Thrones or The Lord of the Rings, and with Sumo Digital's portfolio of diverse projects, it could easily work on any of them.
With Sumo Digital's Hood: Outlaws and Legends releasing later this month, the studio will hopefully have more information on whatever is in its future for players during the coming summer of game conferences and announcements such as this year's digital E3 and Summer Games Fest. Regardless, whatever the studio is working on will likely be very exciting, so hopefully, it will be well worth it for fans to wait to hear more information on what world Sumo Digital will take them to next.
Hood: Outlaws and Legends releases on May 10 for PC, Playstation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
