After the conclusion of the Public Safety Saga which formed Part I of Chainsaw Man's story, Tatsuki Fujimoto made a bold move by introducing a new protagonist in the form of Asa Mitaka for the Academy Saga in Part II. The current host of Yoru, the War Devil, Asa finds herself thrown headfirst in a conflict between the Four Horsemen, who are some of the most powerful Devils in the story. In time, she encounters Denji, who is now starting a new life as a high school student, as well as Yoru's older sister Fami, the Famine Devil — another member of the Four Horsemen.
