Even more evidence points to a Sonic Generations remaster being announced soon, one that could have a new name and focus on Sonic’s brooding rival Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic Generations was released in 2011 and marked the 20th anniversary of Sega’s colorful platforming franchise. When the evil Dr. Eggman unleashes the dangerous Time Eater, Sonic teams up with his “Classic” self to run through updated versions of levels from across his series. Sonic Generations featured two different gameplay styles: one with side-scrolling levels in the style of the older Sonic games, and the more modern, 3D format.
