Pokemon Scarlet and Violet added many new powerful critters to the roster, bringing the total to over one thousand, and setting a high bar to clear for Pokemon Gen 10 games in various areas. There are a lot of expectations placed on Gen 10 after the launch issues of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, so not only do the next mainline games need to deliver where Gen 9 couldn't, but also try and surpass their predecessor's biggest milestones. There was a lot of hype going into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet due to the real-world connection between Spain and France, respectively Gen 9 and Gen 6's regions, meaning Mega Evolutions could make an appearance. They didn't, and Pokemon Gen 10 can kill two birds with one stone by giving new evolutions to two specific critters.
