Since the original release of Dragon Ball as a manga in 1984, the franchise has become a global phenomenon. Such was the impact of the adventures of Son Goku and his friends on Earth, in space, and eventually in different dimensions that a lot of events in Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and even Dragon Ball Super have shaped the way shonen manga and anime appear today.
