While fans of Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity series may be looking forward to playing Avowed as a variety of races from its shared universe, that will regrettably not be possible, as the developer has confirmed Avowed players can only create either a Human or an Elf character. This is largely due to the fact that the player character comes from the Aedyr Empire, which primarily consists of Humans and Elves. Lore aside, however, this is an unfortunate downside to Avowed's character creation, especially considering the number of playable races made available in the Pillars of Eternity series.
