Prior casting announcements already indicated Harrison Ford's famous archeologist will have no shortage of companions or adversaries for his next adventure in Indiana Jones 5. Now, Logan star Boyd Holbrook and Black Panther's Shaunette Renée Wilson have become the latest to join the already impressive cast of Disney and Lucasfilm's new Indy film.
Holbrook's past credits include roles in Netflix's Narcos and Shane Black's The Predator, but fans may know him best for portraying the antagonistic Donald Pierce in director James Mangold's Logan. Wilson previously appeared in Marvel Studios' Black Panther as a member of the Dora Milaje, but her portrayal of surgical resident Mina Okafor in Fox's The Resident is arguably her most prominent role to date.

Deadline reports Holbrook and Wilson have joined the cast of Indiana Jones 5 as Mangold, who takes over directing duties from Steven Spielberg, continues to meet with other talents for additional roles in the film. As with the previously announced casting of Mads Mikkelsen and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, details of Holbrook and Wilson's roles are currently unknown. Similarly, plot details for the untitled fifth Indiana Jones film have not been divulged. After a series of delays that preceded even the COVID-19 pandemic, the team behind the eponymous hero's latest adventure is hoping to begin production this summer.
While Spielberg will be stepping out of the director's chair for the first time in the Indiana Jones franchise's five-film history, he remains on board as an executive producer and is reportedly still very much involved in the creative process. Joining Spielberg as producers of the film are Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel. Having composed the iconic scores for all four previous entries in the adventure film series, John Williams has no plans to relinquish his duties to anyone else and he will return to provide the music for Indiana Jones 5.
The most recent film in the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was released nearly two decades after The Last Crusade seemingly concluded a trilogy. Considering the fourth film opened to mixed reviews, at best, even hardcore fans of the franchise could be forgiven if they were skeptical about Indiana Jones 5, especially now that it's been over a decade since Ford last donned the famous fedora.
However, Mangold's track record with acclaimed films such as the aforementioned Logan and Ford v Ferrari appears to have calmed the nerves of at least some fans. If nothing else, perhaps Mikkelsen's praise for the Indiana Jones 5 script should remove any doubt fans have, considering the revered actor is known for mostly picking quality projects.
Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 29, 2022.
