Bleach's story can be very dark and serious when it needs to be, which makes sense considering it's based in a world constantly hounded by Hollows. Despite that, the series has also been known for its witty humor that helps to break up some of the tension, and while some jokes are simply one-offs, others have stuck around for much longer, and gradually became recurring gags.
