Expeditions are an important part of gameplay in Anno 1800. In addition to opening up new regions of the map, players can also use them to rescue valuable characters or to retrieve rare animals, ornaments, and botanical specimens for display in zoos, museums, and gardens. Before and during each Expedition, the assigned ship will have a Morale level, which needs to be kept above 0. Failing to do this will result in the termination and failure of the mission. Worse still, it can lead to the loss of the entire ship and its crew in some circumstances. To increase Morale, players can equip Expedition ships with Rations and Items.
