Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players see playlist changes arriving every Thursday, and yesterday’s update saw some changes made to the options players have available. For the most part, though, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War sees its playlists remaining much like last week’s offerings.
A noticeable removal sees Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War removing the newly-added Dropkick game mode from the playlist rotation. The experimental mode sees players fighting for control of a briefcase with nuclear launch codes inside, and once picked up, the briefcase holder only has a pistol to defend themselves with. Requiring teamwork if players want to secure victory and nuke their opponents, fans will need to wait until the Dropkick playlist returns to be able to play it again.

Fortunately, this was the only removal from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's playlist selection, with Dropkick being replaced by Sanatorium 24/7. The newly added Fireteam Dirty Bomb map has not only proven to be popular with players, but the location being added as a 24/7 playlist also combats a current issue seen in the game. Players recently discovered that the Fireteam playlist is bugged, only offering access to the Alpine map. While Treyarch works on a fix, players will at least be able to play Sanatorium via this playlist.
This is the last change, however, as the playlists remain the exact same as last week’s barring the addition of Sanatorium and removal of Dropkick. The 3v3 playlist Face Off remains intact, as does the traditional Gunfight game mode and the always entertaining Prop Hunt. Raid and Crossroads Strike 24/7 also remains active, as does Nuketown 24/7, giving fans of close quarters gameplay access to the game’s smallest maps whenever they want them. Snipers Only Moshpit also remains active this week, ensuring fans of long range gameplay and quickscoping have somewhere to face off against each other.
In addition to these Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War playlist changes, Treyarch teases the game’s big February 4 update. The classic multiplayer map Express will be returning on that day, and a new 40-player mode called Endurance will be available for fans of the game’s huge Fireteam maps. Treyarch also promises that more Prop Hunt maps will be available, adding variety to the party game’s lineup of locations.
For Zombies fans, the new Firebase Z map arrives on February 4 as well, taking players to Vietnam in a storyline focused on rescuing Samantha Maxis from the villainous Omega Group. With the date set to be a big one for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans, this small playlist update feels like the calm before the storm.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
