While LEGO video games have been around for almost three decades now, and LEGO sets based on popular movies and licensed IP have been around for almost just as long, it took a little longer for LEGO to combine the world of video games with its ever-popular construction toys. But that all changed in 2011 when Mojang itself submitted a LEGO x Minecraft design to the LEGO Ideas program. In 2012, the first LEGO Minecraft set was released, depicting a "Micro World" version of the game's Forest biome.
