Bungie announces via the official Destiny 2 Twitter that the Vault of Glass World First winners are clan Elysium, earning them a series of prizes.

Bungie have recently released the Vault of Glass raid for their first person MMO Destiny 2. Vault of Glass was initially released for the original Destiny as its first raid, but it is now available in Destiny 2, with an accompanying Contest Mode. The Contest Mode allows players to earn prizes, both in-game and in real life, for completing the raid before set dates, or to be the first to clear it. However, with Bungie announcing clan Elysium's world first clear on Twitter today, Destiny 2 fans will have to settle for second best.

The race itself was a struggle for many Destiny 2 players, as the new Contest Mode not only made the standard Vault of Glass raid more challenging, but it was just a pathway to unlocking the Challenge Mode, which players had to complete in order to attain the title of world first. Challenge Mode added extra obstacles to the raid, including new challenges to the final boss, Atheon, who ended up giving Elysium and other clans some difficulty.

While Elysium's world first completion was confirmed by Destiny 2 in the form of a popup message in-game, Bungie still had to confirm that they had done it legit. This confirmation was likely especially necessary, given Bungie's concerns about players knocking Destiny 2 bosses off ledges during the raid, and their insistence on disqualifying responsible players should that happen. Elysium received an in-game Triumph, called Tempo's Edge, as well as a special 'World First' title. They will also receive a real-life belt with their clan's name etched into it, as well as an ode to the world first clearers of the original Vault of Glass raid in 2014.

This isn't the first time that clan Elysium have had notable feats in Destiny 2. They already have a world 2nd clear for the game's Deep Stone Crypt raid, with Saltagreppo and Quazz managing to 2-man the final boss of the raid, Taniks, the Abomination, as well as flawless completions of Deep Stone Crypt under their belt. While Elysium's world first completion of Vault of Glass precludes other clans from claiming the title, teams who complete the raid before May 25 will have the opportunity to purchase a Raid Ring, while completion before June 1 will allow raiders to buy a Raid Jacket.

The teamwork and precision required to pull of this world first is certainly impressive, as Vault of Glass' new Challenge Mode bosses have proven to be a handful for many players attempting the raid. While clan Elysium have walked away with the champion's belt, there is still a lot of enjoyment for Destiny 2 fans and viewers, something that has been reflected in Destiny 2's huge viewer numbers on Twitch as clans scramble to complete Vault of Glass in time to earn some sweet prizes.
