Gearbox Software's Borderlands is getting ready to move into its next era. After a five-year wait since the most recent title in its looter-shooter franchise, the studio seemed to confirm the next Borderlands title is in the works this past spring. The franchise has evolved from a simpler framework of essentially a heist story into a sprawling narrative with deep lore, much of which has sweeping implications for its sci-fi Western-flavored galaxy.
