Call of Duty: Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward loses two members as the narrative and studio design directors announce their departure.

The design director and narrative director from Infinity Ward have officially announced their departures from the studio. After working on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the duo will leave the team with no firm announcement as to what is next. This leaves several questions in the minds of fans as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's studio will be seeking replacement directors.

Taylor Kurosaki and Jacob Minkoff have been a part of Infinity Ward and Activision for over a decade. They had vital parts in the narrative work and design of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) and Call of Duty: Warzone's 2020 release. For many fans, it is sad to see them depart, but the developers are heading into unknown new shores.

On Twitter, Kurosaki announced the duo's official departure. He said they left to pursue a rare and exciting opportunity, and are happy to have been part of Infinity Ward. They are proud of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and wish the team their best as they head off to new employment. Some rumors suggest they may be headed back to Naughty Dog to work on a new project.

Last year, multiple other Call of Duty developers left Infinity Ward for similar reasons. Respawn co-founders Jon Shiring and Drew McCoy announced their departure and went on to start Gravity Well Games. The loss of dedicated developers is often seen as a sign by the community, but it is also an opportunity for new minds to shape the world of Call of Duty.

Fans are sure to be following their career, and many express their congratulations and best wishes in the comments of the Tweet. Fans compliment their work on Modern Warfare, and many believe that this is exciting news. Even Jeff Leach, former Call of Duty voice actor, commented on the post stating that he will always "have your six."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's team is expected to be working on new projects at the moment, and it is unknown how the departure of both directors from Infinity Ward will affect development. While this is a change in the upper management of Infinity Ward, many expect the quality and love that the development team puts into their games will still remain in the final product.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
