Because Shepard is guided by player choice, it's always hard to rank this individual when it comes to video game protagonists. Each playthrough of Mass Effect Legendary Edition seems to uncover a new choice, a fresh perspective, and a different dilemma that has the potential to change the personality of the commander. Is Shepard a reaper-killer by drive or by necessity?

Sometimes, Shepard isn't a reaper-killer at all. One thing that can alter the legacy of Shepard is how the crew thrives or toils under the Spectre's leadership. A simple thing like giving the crew some equipment that leads to extra free time might feel like a distraction, but it's these kinds of distractions that make the world worth fighting for. And perhaps the best example of this occurs when getting ahold of the FBA Couplings.
Step one of any journey is to pick up the mission, otherwise Shepard will be off looking for something that isn't there. The mission isn't available immediately, Shepard needs access to the brand new Normandy first.

When on the Normandy, take the elevator down to the Engineering Deck, make way to the drive core, and speak to either Gabi or Kenneth. They'll be playfully bickering about a lot of problems they have, most of which would need a relationship counselor to sort out.
But one particular issue can be addressed by the commander. Select "Need anything?" from the conversation wheel to find out about a problem that Shepard actually can take care of.
They're in need of some FBA Couplings. They'll reveal that they might be sold on Omega, and they're correct about that, but they won't give any indicator as to which shop actually might sell it.
Go to Omega, go right, enter the slums, and find Kenn's Salvage shop. The Nashan Stellar Dynamics T6-FBA Couplings are available for purchase here and exactly what Gabi and Kenneth need for some extra free time.

The couplings cost 500 credits, but work out a deal with Harrot to ease off the quarian and the price goes down to 416. The negotiation also takes off the price of all of the other items for purchase at this location.
Feel free to save Archangel or recruit Mordin Solus before going back to the Normandy, this mission isn't all that urgent and won't expire until close to the end of the game. Plus, doing one of these missions will send Shepard back to the Normandy for free.
Return to Gabi and Kenneth. They'll opt to spend the extra time playing Skyllian-Five poker. If players are looking to make their money back, give Gabi a laugh, and earn Kenneth's respect, use a paragon or renegade conversation choice and Shepard will come out 500 credits ahead.
