Despite the Legend of Zelda's namesake being Zelda herself, since the franchise's debut in 1986, Zelda has yet to be fully playable as a protagonist. Although titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and the non-canon Hyrule Warriors have toyed with making Zelda playable, the main series has yet to make Zelda the main focus.
