The game was written off by large swaths of the gaming populace upon first reveal, as it seemed to be highly derivative of titles like Destiny 2 and Warframe, not to mention its association with Nexon, a company infamous for its microtransaction-heavy releases. Despite this, The First Descendant has picked up quite a bit of attention, hitting a peak concurrent player count of 265,000 on Steam.
