Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood starts out as a story about two brothers who attempt to bring their mother back by committing a taboo practice known as human transmutation. This causes one of them, Edward, to lose his arm and leg, while his younger brother loses his body and is contained in a suit of armor. However, the story quickly turns to political intrigue and war.
