Black Myth: Wukong is based on the Chinese novel Journey To The West. Journey To The West is steeped in Chinese tradition and culture and is one of the most popular stories in East Asia. While the book was written during the mid-sixteenth century, many of the stories it is based on come from Chinese folklore that dates back much further.
