Recent Genshin Impact leaks showcase the Electro Archon Baal, and her role as an antagonist makes her perfect to be a potential raid boss.

With Genshin Impact's upcoming 1.6 update it seems the new Inazuma region is right around the corner, where players are introduced to Kazuha and search for a way to get into the new land. One of the seven nations of Teyvat, Inazuma is overseen by the Electro Archon Baal. Though she has been mentioned briefly by other characters and storylines in Genshin Impact, much of her backstory and motivations remain a mystery.

Recently, Genshin Impact leakers found new information regarding Baal's character, including her past with Kazuha, concept art, and a peek at her potential design. Based on the leaks and storyline hints, it appears Baal will serve as an antagonist of some kind. Genshin Impact has also been rumored to be working on raids for a while now, with the potential for unique mechanics and co-op action. As such, Baal seems to be the perfect person to integrate raids into Genshin Impact as the Inazuma update approaches.

Genshin Impact leaks highlight Baal's relationship with Kazuha and sets her up as an antagonistic force. Based on small pieces of information from the characters and questlines in Genshin Impact, it seems that Baal was not one of the original Seven Archons that emerged victorious from the Archon War.

However, Baal quickly came into power and issued a decree with which she seized all visions within Inazuma's borders. Those who are caught with a vision are punished severely and as a result, people have avoided the region in fear.  It's unclear whether Baal will eventually turn into a playable Genshin Impact character or not, but for now it appears that she will be an antagonist to the player when she first appears.

Since its initial release, Genshin Impact has been creative with unique mechanics in events and challenges. However, there has yet to be a raid-type challenge, despite continuous rumors and the potential for co-op. With the introduction of Baal, it seems like the pieces could be falling into place for a raid encounter given the co-op experience it could provide and and Baal's mysterious backstory. The leaks seem to portray Baal as a powerful leader who strikes fear into the hearts of Inazuma residents. As an Archon, she would be on another level compared to bosses like Childe, so it's natural players would want to challenge her with others.

While the concept of raids have never been officially implemented in Genshin Impact, there are plenty of past events and challenges that introduce similar mechanics. For example, Genshin Impact players already had the ability to fight event bosses like Rhodeia's Rage and Resurgent Cryo Regisvine with other players. Although these fights could be accomplished solo, the game's mechanics, hazards, and elemental reactions have evolved and become more difficult over time.

With new challenges being released every update, it's only natural that a raid-like encounter could eventually appear in which Genshin Impact players must complete a fight together. Plenty of raid-like mechanics have already made an appearance in previous Genshin Impact events such as AOE markers, DPS checks, and strategic use of elemental reactions. Baal is a perfect candidate for a potential Genshin Impact raid given her commanding power, and she offers up the potential for a unique, co-op driven boss fight. Time will tell whether something like this actually comes to pass.

Genshin Impact is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5.
