Microsoft announces a new tech event set to take place later this month, teasing that it will reveal what's next for the Windows brand.

Debuting back in 2015, Windows 10 has been Microsoft's main Windows operating system for years now, cropping up on its desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. However, it seems the company is almost ready to discuss what the future holds, with the company teasing that it's gearing up to show off "what's next" for Windows later this month.

Announced via the company's official Twitter account, Microsoft will be holding a livestream on June 24, with the broadcast slated to begin at 11:00 AM ET. Nothing else about the event is teased in the cryptic post, but it's worth expecting the showcase will have some exciting news for fans of Microsoft's tech.

Those who recently tuned into Microsoft Build 2021 might have an idea of what's coming during the showcase, with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella laying the groundwork for the announcement during his keynotes speech at the event. The clip (which was later uploaded to YouTube by CNET Highlights) sees the CEO claim that the company is working on "one of the most significant updates to Windows of the past decade," teasing that it will be "the next generation" of the operating system. The upcoming broadcast will seemingly reveal what Nadella was referring to and give long-time customers an insight into the next iteration of the Windows brand.

It won't be the only significant event for the company this month, as it will also be holding a separate broadcast during this year's E3. The livestream will see Microsoft and Bethesda team up to deliver a deep dive into the lineup of games coming to Xbox consoles in the near future. Although nothing has been officially confirmed, fans expect to hear more about Halo Infinite, which is slated to launch this fall, as well as Fable, Forza, and Starfield, which early rumors suggest could be getting an official release date during the showcase. The broadcast will air on June 13 at 10:00 AM PT and will allegedly run for 90 minutes, offering a look at a range of upcoming titles, announcements, and Game Pass reveals.

In other Microsoft-related news, the company recently confirmed it will be shutting down Internet Explorer, finally retiring its popular browser after over two decades online. As of June 15, 2022, it will be pulled from the internet in place of its more contemporary counterpart, Microsoft Edge, which the company released back in 2015. Internet Explorer made its debut in 1995 and has long been regarded as one of the web's most popular browsing tools. However, with Edge now replacing it on new Microsoft devices, the company has taken the opportunity to end its support.

Microsoft will be holding a Windows event on June 24 at 11:00 AM ET.
