Smite 2 made a lot of changes to the game's existing formula, but some of these changes have been more impactful than the rest. The original Smite had an intricate system of items, beads, and relics. Meanwhile, Smite 2 has opted to streamline this whole process to make things a lot easier and when coupled with the new Strength and Intelligence stats, Gods can now work in many more roles.
