Farming tools aren't handed to you at the start of Fields of Mistria. You'll start out with the hoe and the watering can, and by Spring 2, you'll receive the axe. You can buy stronger tools around Mistria, but you can also forge them. With eight types of tools in Fields of Mistria, you'll want to know which ones to upgrade first. What you prioritize will also depend on your gameplay. If you're someone who prefers to farm and forage, then you may want to get a stronger watering can before you get the better pickaxe.
