Rust features a handful of Military-Grade weapons. Here's a look at all of them, ranked.

As survivors get later into a wipe in Rust, they will want to begin accumulating military-grade weapons. In general, military-grade weapons are superior to crafted weapons in each class. Many of the top weapons in Rust can be purchased at the Bandit Camp or Trading Post for a certain amount of materials.

Others can only be looted from certain enemies or found after completing in-game events. Whether used for protection or aggression, military-grade weapons are important to have at the end of a wipe. PVP is far more common later in a wipe, so gamers will want to have the best weapons at their disposal. This guide will cover every military-grade weapon and there to find them, ranked from worst to best.

Similar to the Rocket Launcher, the Grenade Launcher's primary utility is destroying walls during raids. It has six chambers to hold explosive ammunition, and fires relatively fast for a launcher. This weapon only spawns on Heavy Scientists. The HE ammo for the gun only spawns on the Scientists as well, so those that have one will want to use their ammo wisely.

  • Recoil: High
  • Range: Up to 50 meters
  • Magazine Capacity: 6
  • Damage: 90

At close range, the Spas-12 is the best weapon in the game. It deals 158 base damage as a semi-automatic shotgun that can hold up to six rounds at a time. The weapon can be purchased from the Bandit Camp. While the Grenade Launcher can fire faster and do more damage, the Spas-12 has attachments and ammunition to improve the weapon's stats. It is more practical to use than the Grenade Launcher with shotgun shells because it has a better pellet spread.

  • Recoil: Moderate
  • Range: 45 m
  • Magazine Capacity: 6
  • Damage: 157

The fast-firing, low recoil pistol is one of the most common close quarters PVP weapons later in a wipe. The M92 has a 15 round magazine, which is more than enough to take down a couple of enemies. Survivors can pick the gun up at the Bandit camp for scrap, or find it in a loot crate near one of the monuments. It may be one of the last guns in this list, but it is a very viable PVP option up to medium range. For the cost, it is difficult to find a more reliable weapon.

  • Recoil: Low
  • Range: Up to 90 meters
  • Magazine Capacity: 15
  • Headshot Damage: 90
  • Center Mass Damage: 45

The M39 is an upgraded version of the SAR. Because the SAR is so good already, the M39 is one of the better weapons to use in the game. Players can pick one up in a supply drop, or spend 400 scrap to purchase it at the Bandit Camp. The semi-automatic rifle has essentially no recoil and can be used at long ranges. It is a top PVP option when fighting from intermediate to long-range in Rust.

  • Recoil: Low
  • Range: 100m+
  • Magazine Capacity: 20
  • Headshot Damage: 100
  • Center Mass Damage: 50

Despite having 5 less base damage than the Assault Rifle, the LR-300 is better. It has a faster fire rate and less recoil than the AK-47. The LR-300 is easier to use, and has better iron sights than the AK as well. Anyone that has played Rust for a while knows that aesthetics are often just as important as performance.

The LR has the looks and the stats to be an amazing PVP weapon in Rust. There really is no point in grinding for hours if gamers are unable to show off their gear and clout to other survivors during a wipe. The LR is on sale at the Bandit Camp, but it can also be found after destroying the Bradley APC or Attack Helicopter. Like the other military-grade weapons, the LR will appear in loot crates and airdrops as well.

  • Rate Of Fire: 500 RPM
  • Recoil: Low
  • Range: 100m+
  • Magazine Capacity: 30
  • Headshot Damage: 80
  • Center Mass Damage: 40

Survivors that enjoy long-range battles will want to get their hands on an L96. It has the same damage values as the Bolt Action Rifle, but every other stat on it is better. The range on the L96 is so far that most gamers will not render far enough to see the bullet impact a target. With the potential for a better optic, as well as better bullet velocity and range, there is no reason to use the Bolty over the L96.

  • Rate Of Fire: 23 RPM
  • Recoil: N/A
  • Range: 1,000m+
  • Magazine Capacity: 5
  • Headshot Damage: 160
  • Center Mass Damage: 80

The M249 is the top weapon available to survivors in Rust. It fires at 500 RPM and has a 100 round belt. The light machine gun outputs extremely high damage at a fast rate and has the largest magazine of any weapon in Rust. Gamers will have to take down the Bradley APC or Attack Helicopter to find the M249 in-game.

High recoil can be overlooked due to the dominance of this gun at almost any range. Players should tap the trigger at longer ranges to conserve ammo and increase accuracy. While reload and draw times are slow, 100 rounds should be enough to take down even the most fortified opponents. The M249 does more damage than the AK and has the same fire rate as the LR. It is the undisputed best fully automatic weapon in Rust.

  • Rate Of Fire: 500 RPM
  • Recoil: High
  • Range: 300m+
  • Magazine Capacity: 100
  • Headshot Damage: 130
  • Center Mass Damage: 65
