Call of Duty: Warzone's M60 is a powerful option for players who want to take a siege weapon and assault enemies with excessive firepower.

Light machine guns in Call of Duty: Warzone are a powerful suppressive option that can devastate solos and teams. With Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War combined, there is a wide selection to choose from. Despite this, one LMG stands out above the rest in ammo capacity and raw power.

The iconic M60 is a long-standing option across the Call of Duty franchise that is notorious for being a bullet hose. The weapon has appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. While fans have disputed its viability, recently, the weapon has been back into focus with the release of Rambo in Call of Duty: Warzone.

The M60 Call of Duty: Warzone light machine gun is a full-auto weapon with a high ammo capacity and stopping power force. The weapon has a slow fire rate and handling speed, but makes up for that in sheer power with its high damage and low recoil. By default, the weapon has 100 rounds and a firing rate of 517 RPM. While it is slow to reload, it can unleash damage for a consistent amount of time, offering both suppression and damage in a variety of combat situations.

The M60 is best built for mid-range combat and long-range suppression. The weapon will lose accuracy at extended ranges, but its high ammo capacity makes it skilled at discouraging snipers. Optics are a personal preference for players using this Call of Duty: Warzone LMG, but generally are not necessary for most of its operation. Reflex sights, 3x sights, and the Royal & Kross 4x are good options for players who want a zoomed-in focus at their targets.

Suppression is almost always a good option in Call of Duty: Warzone and players can benefit from an Agency Suppressor. Otherwise, fans can prioritize damage with a Muzzle Brake 7.62 if they do not mind being seen in battle. Players should increase their bullet velocity with the barrel selection and push for increased damage, as it will help the spread become tighter and increase the lethality of the weapon. 22.8" Task Force, 22.8" Match Grade, and the 18.9" Cavalry Lancer are all great options to achieve this goal.

Fans who prefer to hip-fire their weapons can rely on the Steady Aim Laser to increase their accuracy. ADS fans should look towards the SOF Target Designator or SWAT 5mw Laser Sight for similar benefits and more control over the weapon while ADSed. A Foregrip or Field Agent Grip are both go-to options for the under barrel, but recently many fans have turned towards the Bruiser Grip for increased movement speed. The M60 is a rather slow Call of Duty: Warzone weapon and fans can get a minor boost from this attachment.

More bullets are always good, and Call of Duty: Warzone's light machine gun users usually turn towards the STANAG 125 RND or Salvo 125 RND Fast Mag as their magazine attachment. The Fast Mag is preferable as the weapon has a slow reload speed, and any boost can become a life-saving Call of Duty: Warzone attachment. Handles are fairly unneeded for the LMG, but a SAS Combat Stock or Marathon Stock can both be a big help. The increased mobility will shore up the weaknesses in the weapon, but that does mean lessening pressure on the gun's strengths.

The M60 LMG is primarily a siege weapon, so players should build their overall design towards hunkering down and raining bullets upon their enemies. This creates an interesting contrast with assault rifle and SMG strategies, but playing aggressive defense in Call of Duty: Warzone will often result in the LMG user's favor. Remember that the M60 is good for mid-range battles, but loses its strengths in close or long-range confrontations.

Fans can gear the M60 to operate closer to an assault rifle, but they will always lose in a mobility contest. Due to this, fans should shore up their defenses by taking E.O.D. as their first perk. While Cold-Blooded is also viable, not dying immediately to traps and explosives can often give the M60 the edge it needs in battle. The second perk should be Ghost, as information will be an M60 user's downfall. Due to a restricted zone of operation, fans need to be undetected by UAVs, Radar Drones, and Heartbeat Sensors.

The third perk can be between Spotter, Tracker, and Shrapnel, depending on the player's strategy. Shrapnel will make their assault more aggressive, but Spotter plays on the defensive factor, and Tracker is a standard go-to for anyone in the Call of Duty: Warzone battlefield.

Players can rely on suppressive Lethal and Tactical items for their gear. Molotovs, Thermite Grenades, and Semtex can be used to push an advantage, while Smoke and Flash Grenades can be good for redirection. When using the M60, the strategy should revolve around area control and siege-based warfare.

  • Muzzle - Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel - 22.8" Match Grade
  • Underbarrel - Field Agent Grip
  • Ammunition - Salvo 125 Fast Mag
  • Optic - Royal & Cross 4x

The M60 can increase its already massive power by mixing the Agency Suppressor with the 22.8" Match Grade barrel. Fans should realize that firepower is the goal, and mobility will be sacrificed to achieve maximum potential with this build. Damage range increase will need an Optic that can handle it, so the Royal & Cross 4x is an instant go-to for stability and zoom potential. For faster reloads, fans should equip the Salvo 125 Fast Mag option, and the Field Agent Grip should increase vertical and horizontal recoil control in Call of Duty: Warzone for a steady stream of ongoing fire.

While this weapon will continue to be slow and sluggish, fans will find that its sheer force quickly outweighs that penalty. The weapon is best paired with an SMG or Assault Rifle that is geared towards short-range battles. Quicker reload and swap options will become instantly viable alongside the long-distance and mid-range control potential in Call of Duty: Warzone that the M60 prospers in. In close-combat situations, the fan's best hope is to switch weapons or hip fire at the target when using this loadout option.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
