Treyarch announces the next Double Weapon XP weekend for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and the event is going to be kicking off very soon.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans have been hoping for a double weapon XP event for some time now, and fortunately, Treyarch will be giving them just that. Gamers will not need to wait much longer for the event either, as double weapon XP in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will go live this weekend.

The event is well-timed, as it it is coming right after the release of the AMP63 machine pistol. A promising new weapon that fills a new role for the pistol class, the gun deals solid damage and has some great accuracy. It does have a slow fire rate and small clip size, however, meaning that those wanting to make the most out of it need to get some attachments to boost the velocity and ammo count. Fortunately, the double weapon XP weekend should provide this opportunity.

Treyarch mentions how the Double Weapon XP and AMP63 go hand-in-hand via its announcement of the event, with the developer also giving fans insight into the exact times the event will go live. The start time for Double Weapon XP is June 4 at 10 am PT, and it will be ending at the same exact time on June 7. This gives Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans 72 hours of increased weapon experience, and there are a few playlists that will help make use of this bonus XP.

The popular Die Hardpoint mode can see players racking up lots of kills, especially if they are able to go on lengthy killstreaks and rack up perks. Now part of the Action Heroes Moshpit playlist, this is a fine choice for weapon leveling. An even better option is the new 6v6 Face Off playlist. While it is similar to Gunfight, this mode also allows players to use their own loadouts on the small maps, and each kill grants a massive amount of XP. The new 6v6 variant will be incredibly hectic, too, giving more opportunities for these XP-heavy kills.

Players will want to avoid Zombies, however, as the game is still suffering from an XP glitch that sees players leveling up rather slowly. One other tip is to party up with PlayStation users, as a PlayStation exclusive benefit sees those on the platform getting 25% more Weapon XP. Those using cross-play can benefit from this if they are teaming up with someone on PlayStation, stacking the party bonus with the Double Weapon XP event to rank up guns extremely fast.

With most players already hitting the max prestige level for Season 3, seeing a Weapon XP event as opposed to normal XP is welcome. With the event requested for some time now, it should please a lot of fans.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
