Torn Banner Studios and Tripwire Interactive release a gory new Chivalry 2 trailer, celebrating the brutal action game's impending launch.

Slated to launch on June 8, Torn Banner Studios' Chivalry 2 is shaping up to be bigger, bolder, and far more brutal than its predecessor, offering an array of new features for returning fans of the medieval warfare franchise. Following last weekend's open beta, the game is closer than ever to its upcoming launch, and publisher Tripwire Interactive is celebrating that short road to release with a violent new launch trailer.

Although the clip only lasts 90 seconds, Chivalry 2's latest promo is filled with plenty of gory dismemberment, intense 64 player sieges, and hard-hitting melee combat. If players needed any more proof that the game will come loaded with huge, spectacle-heavy wars and weighty, blood-soaked combat encounters, this latest look at the game drives home that it intends to be the ultimate medieval battle simulator.

Included in the clip are several looks at the game's maps, as masses of players clash swords over several of Chivalry 2's largest battlegrounds. Some are fairly traditional medieval landscapes, with armies storming castles or fighting through war-torn towns, while others are more surprising, including a giant coliseum that houses fire-shooting jets and hazardous gaps for players to fall down.

Much like the first games, Torn Banner Studios encourages players to fight smart, with the trailer showing just how creative they can get with combat. One section shows a player throw an enemy's decapitated head at an oncoming opponent to temporarily stun him while another sees a soldier knock an enemy back and throw his shield at him to deliver the final blow. In a particularly brutal moment, one player even uses their enemy's cockiness against them, emerging from having his arm violently severed to kick his foe down a nearby hole.

It seems this just scratching the surface of the things players will be able to achieve in Chivalry 2, with the promo showing soldiers launching themselves with catapults, kicking opponents into jets of fire, and throwing devastating bombs. The game continues to look like a major expansion on the ideas of its predecessor and definitely seems like one to watch for lovers of medieval action games.

Chivalry 2 isn't the only big game slated to drop next week, with The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood launching for consoles on June 8, Square Enix dropping Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Integrade on June 10, and Insomniac Games releasing Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart on June 11. It looks to be a big week for video game fans, with the roster of new titles offering a little something for every type of player.

Chivalry 2 will be available on June 8 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
